Sorry about overwrite in Shenyang article.

[edit]

Hey Barneyboo, I accidentally overwrote your edit in the Shenyang article earlier today. (I just noticed while reviewing the history.) Sorry about that. I see your point about being more NPOV, so I will rephrase that section to try to make it better. Cheers --DV 06:52, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)

You showed support for this week's computer and video games Improvement Drive.
This week World of Warcraft was selected to be improved to featured article status.
Hope you can help…

Although my RfA is not over yet, I figured that since so many people voted before it had been posted, I may as well start thanking people before it wraps up. It'll take me that long to thank everyone who voted anyway! Thank you, Barneyboo, for your support - I'll do my best as an admin to make the reality of Wikipedia rise to the level of the dream. "Stephen Goodfellow" Vanity? Perhaps. Content? Yes.

[edit]

Hi Barneyboo,

I'm hoping to convince you that the entry on "Stephen Goodfellow" is not a vanity article and might be reinstated. The article in Wikipedia was brought to my attention a few months ago, since it was a direct reference to me, I enlarged on it. As to Jamie's curt (if not a little humorous) reference, my notability may be almost insignificant to the larger world, but can make claim to the creation of the Micropointillist medium and can drag a plethora of poor unsuspecting witnesses to attest to that fact. The few other minor achievements may be of even smaller stature, but perhaps worthy of note to some web archeologist in the far future. A google search of my name ought to dredge up some stuff. I can be reached at esteban@goodfelloweb.com - please put 'wikipedia' in the subject - I got a LOT of spam.

Happy new Year!

Sincerely,

Stephen Goodfellow

  • Thanks for taking the time to contact me, Stephen. I've done some further research, and I still stand by my original vote. Your appeal to me is rather contradictory. Notability is a major point of contention in Wikipedia, mainly becauase we're all on the look-out for the smallest bit of opinion, or point of view in articles, and deciding whether or not an article is 'notable' is inherently subjective, unless the entire community can agree to a strict criteria (whether that's alexa rankings, google page rank etc. etc.) So, when you say my notability may be almost insignificant to the larger world, that's really just a straight admission that it won't meet many people's criteria for inclusion, based on notability. Likewise, being able to quote a handful of people that you were the brain behind Micropointillism is fine, but not as an argument for inclusion in Wikipedia, where wider awareness is expected. A Google search on your claim to fame shows less than 200 hits, and a number of them are pages on your own site. Barneyboo (Talk) 12:36, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help From fellow Wikipedians against censorship!

Thank you for your time I was wondering if i could ask your opinion?? :)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/G. Edward Griffin here is the Article on G. Edward Griffin that I have just reconstructed and am still in the process of doing, But it's been put up for deletion?.

I was wondering if you could pitch in a comment in any direction you feel but I believe this man is very notable having Authored such books as The Creature from Jekyll Island a history of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, but also many many more films as well, also being a member of many organisations.

Me being an inclusionist of sorts I would rather see changes made rather than a wholesale deletion, what do you think?

The man is very notable he has been doing this sort of work since the 60’s when he created the “The Capitalist Conspiracy” one of the first and most documented histories of Political Corruption in film that I know of.

Thank you for all your help, I’m just starting out in Wikipedia I have created the Benjamin H. Freedman, article and reconstructed the The Money Masters article and some others but I need help here! Any help of mine you may need or want in any regard in the future just ask :)

Also any contribution you would like to make to improve the article please consider!

Really i wouldn't ask if i did not really think this article worthy.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:E4spoof.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:E4spoof.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:12, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request

[edit]

Hello, User:Barneyboo. I have noticed from your user page that you are a fan of or have an interest in The Smurfs series. There is currently a discussion concerning the merging of all individual articles on Smurf video games into one bigger article. I do not believe that any of the editors involved in the discussion (myself included) know much about the games and I was hoping you could provide us with the benefit of your opinion as an editor knowledgeable about the subject. If you are not interested in helping or if you believe yourself incapable at this time then please disregard this message. The discussion is currently under way here. Thanks for your time. -Thibbs (talk) 21:37, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
